  Mount Vernon Hotel Museum is an interesting, small museum hotel in Manhattan, nestled under the shadow of the 59th Street Bridge.
  
  It’s fascinating to see this three story wooden building amongst modern, multistory skyscrapers in the heart of the largest city in the US.
  
  Our tour guide was friendly and highly knowledgeable. The tour lasts 45 minutes to an hour.
  
  It begins with a 10 minute historical overview video to give you a flavor for what life in general was like at the time, and then the real life tour guide explains that this building was originally a barn, then a hotel, and then largely - and most recently- a private residence. But a restoration group bought the property and maintain it as a museum.
