  I was pleased and surprised by Blue Pearl. Our cat, Squirrel, is 14 years old and a homebody. She does not get into a carrier easily. It was with great effort that we got her into one at all. She had vomited twice the day before and once the day of the visit and we could not wait for the appointment with the vet. Keeping in mind how shy she was, how afraid to leave the house, I was happy to see how calmly and gently the staff at Blue Pearl treated her. The facility is in an easy-to-get-to part of Manhattan and being able to access it 24 hours a day makes it worth the cost. The ER visit is $176. My local vet's rate is $80. So, it was twice the cost but well worth it for Squirrel's health and our peace of mind. They have x-ray/urine/bloodwork testing on premises. Those do cost extra. The front staff was friendly and welcoming. There was a nurse who took Squirrel's vitals, same as in a human clinic! The accompanying picture was taken right after her vitals were taken. She took to hiding but the staff was able to coax her out. I spoke to the vet twice, once for the consultation and then again about her test results. I recommend this place to all pet owners in urgent need for their fur baby.
