  I love this place! Always has creative and original ice cream sandwiches. Cleassic is still my favorite. The staff is always kind and well informed. Ask for Dwight; he is particularly awesome!

  tiny ice cream sandwich shop located on the lower east side.
  
  the shop area for customers is pretty small. a few seats sit at the front window. there's a menu of the rotating ice sandwich flavors on the left., the order counter is right in front of you, and beyond that there is the production area where the ice cream and cookies are made. the space is clean design to the eye. flourishes of color, and a very modern stark feel.
  Melt is more of a grab-n-go place than a sit & camp out joint.
  
  the ice cream sandwich flavors do rotate. there are classic flavors plus new flavors. the regular-sized ice sandwiches are not small (macaron) nor are they giant-sized (XL Chipwich)...they are medium-ish and cost $5 each. according to the website, each sandwich is ~ 4 oz and about 3 1/4" in diameter. i really like "Cinnamax"--two snickerdoodle cookies sandwiching cinnamon ice cream. for fans of cinnamon, the Cinnamax does not disappoint--nor does the cinnamon flavor overpower the enjoyment of it. it does a nice job of balancing the cinnamon ice creaminess and the snickerdoodle cookie-ness.
  
  the service? informative and friendly. there was small error when i paid and the employee on-hand caught the mistake quickly and resolved it...easy-peasy.
  
  Melt Bakery is a perfect place to grab a treat post dinner or during the day as you stroll around downtown Manhattan.
